Creating a Special Place

This is a favorite place of mine on the Tilton River in Lewis County, WA. How to create the cool, hidden quality of the scene yet show the almost blindingly bright sun reflections?

I started with a warm watercolor underpainting, and began with the quiet, dark secret area.
